Hey! Welcome to my brand new blog! I’m glad you’re here 🙂
Somehow, in my head, I had this idea that skirts are “fancy” and mostly for special occasions. I’m not sure where I got this idea, but I labored under this thought for years. Then I picked up a copy of the Curated Closet, which (long story short) made me realize I LOVE the look of knee length skirts with slim fit tops. So I decided to start wearing “fancy” clothes because it made me happy. And you know what? Skirts really don’t make you look overdressed. I lost all those years of wearing floaty, pretty skirts, for absolutely nothing! Now I’m making up for lost time.
I sewed a straight size 4, then finished all the seams with my serger. Also, I raised the hem about 2 1/2 inches (such is the life of a short person), so it lands right at the knee.
My favorite thing about this skirt are the POCKETS! All hail women’s pattern designers who put useful sized pockets in things. I mean, I don’t ever put anything in there, except my hands, but it’s nice to have the option (and putting my hands in my pockets makes me less awkward, I think).
My other summer staple is this white tee shirt. It’s an Agnes Tee with shortened sleeves in this perfect white French terry from Cali Fabrics. It’s just the right weight and breathability. High quality basics bring me a newly discovered joy.
Like all my Hollyburns, I sewed a straight size 2, then finished all the seams with my overlocker. Finally, I used my coverstitch for the hems.
There you have it! My perfect summer outfit, made up of two of my pattern staples. What are your TNT patterns? Do you have a “uniform” of sorts?
